International M&A Experts Bolster Kejie’s Cross-Border Transaction Practice

Kejie announces Mr. Pascal DEMKO and Mr. Rupert VÁRNAI joining Kejie as foreign legal counsels, which take effect on August 28,2015.  Mr. Pascal DEMKO and Mr. Rupert VÁRNAI’s practice focus on the area of mergers and acquisitions and investment.  Mr. Pascal DEMKO and Mr. Rupert VÁRNAI have many years of working experience in international law firms.  They advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, investment and other related matters.

He Jie, the managing partner of Kejie, comments on the appointment that “Mr. Pascal DEMKO and Mr. Rupert VÁRNAI’s joining is a natural and exciting development in Kejie’s international strategy. Mr. Pascal DEMKO received his master degreeon international business law from Paris I Panthéon – Sorbonne University, France.  He has been in the legal profession since 1991 and worked at Jeantet & Associés, Paris. His practice focuses on the area of mergers and acquisitions, investment, real estate, corporate law and international law.

Mr. Rupert VÁRNAI received his master degree on comparative law from Queensland University, Australia. He has been in the legal  profession since 1997 and worked at Baker & McKenzie, ECOVIS and Yingke. His practice focuses on the area of mergers and acquisitions, investment, media and advertisement, corporate law, competition law and international law.

Kejie’s recent representative transactions includes: 1) Sino-Ocean Land’s issuance of RMB 10 billion corporate bonds and US$ 1.2 billion guaranteed notes; 2) Join-Hope’s investment in 3W Coffee and Sexy Salad; 3) China Integrated CircuitIndustry Investment Fund; 4) Beijing Integrated Circuit Industry Development  Equity Investment Fund (RMB 30 billion); 5) Tongfang Guoxin’s Investment in HuaHong Semiconductor Limited as Cornerstone Investor.

Kejie’s other representative transactions includes: 1) GEELY’s acquisition of Volvo Group (US$ 1.8 billion); 2) Superior Aviation Beijing Co.,Ltd.’s acquisition of Hawker Beechcraft, Inc. (US$ 1.79 billion); 3) China Life’s strategic investment in Sino-Ocean Land (HK$ 5.8 billion); 4) Lafarge’s acquisition of Sichuan Shuangma Investment Group; 5) Gome’s acquisition of Dazhong Electronics (RMB 3.6 billion); 6) Shanxi Securities Company Limited’s acquisition of Green Futures Company Limited (RMB 1.1 billion); 7) ZhongDe Securities, a joint venture investment bank established by Shanxi Securities Co., Ltd. and Deutsche Bank AG; 8) Aerospace Industry Fund (RMB 3 billion); 9)Beijing Tourism Development Fund (RMB 1 billion).
